INDIRA VARMA

Since graduating from the renowned Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), Indira Varma has carved out an incredible career on stage and screen. 

Indira recently starred in GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS at The Old Vic, leading an all-female cast iteration of this groundbreaking Pulitzer Prize-winning play by David Mamet. She also starred in OEDIPUS opposite the Academy Award winning actor, Rami Malek as ‘Jocasta’ – for which she received a ‘Best Actress’ Olivier Theatre Award nomination. This comes after playing the role of ‘Lady Macbeth’ in director Simon Godwin’s MACBETH starring Ralph Fiennes. The production toured to key cities around the UK ending in Washington DC. 

Elsewhere in her prolific theatre career, Indira has starred as ‘Irina Arkadina’ in Jamie Lloyd’s production of Chekhov’s THE SEAGULL ‘Queen Marguerite’ in the National Theatre’s production of Eugène Ionesco’s EXIT THE KING opposite Rhys Ifans; Shakespeare’s TITUS ANDRONICUS (Globe Theatre); ‘Bianca’ in OTHELLO, IVANOV (all at the National Theatre), TWELFTH NIGHT, THE VORTEX, DANCE OF DEATH, PRIVATES ON PARADE (all at the Donmar Warehouse), THE VERTICAL HOUR, THE COUNTRY, INGREDIENT X (all at the Royal Court), HYSTERIA (Theatre Royal), THE SKIN OF OUR TEETH (Young Vic) and CELEBRATION (on Broadway). She starred in one of the UK’s first theatrical events during the Covid 19 pandemic at London’s Old Vic, in Brian Friel’s FAITH HEALER “a superb Indira Varma in this enthralling streaming production” (New York Times), which was streamed live to our homes in absence of a live audience. The three-hander also starred Michael Sheen and David Threlfall.

On the screen, Indira can most recently be seen in THE OTHER BENNET SISTER (BBC1/Britbox), THE CAPTURE (BBC1) and season two of THE NIGHT MANAGER alongside Tom Hiddleston who reprised his role. Indira also co-starred in the limited series COLDWALTER (ITV/Showtime) opposite THE WALKING DEAD’s Andrew Lincoln. Upcoming projects include feature film FRANK AND LOUIS, which recently premiered at Sundance, and she’s currently filming a lead role in DUNE: PROPHECY (HBO) as well as the next season of YOUNG SHERLOCK (Amazing Prime).
