Andrew Czezowski

Andrew Czezowski is a pioneering figure in British punk and underground nightlife. As co-founder of London’s legendary Roxy Club in Covent Garden, he helped establish the venue as the original headquarters of the UK punk movement, hosting early performances from The Clash, The Damned, The Jam, Siouxsie & The Banshees, X-Ray Spex, Generation X and The Slits.

Alongside Susan Carrington, Czezowski later founded The Fridge in Brixton, creating one of London’s most influential and innovative clubs. Across decades, the venue championed punk, rave, house, soul, jazz and LGBTQ+ culture, featuring artists including Grace Jones, Soul II Soul, Sade, Public Enemy, Frankie Knuckles, Carl Cox, Fatboy Slimand Afrika Bambaataa.

Czezowski is also a dedicated archivist of British music culture, with an archive of more than 120,000 photographs, alongside decades of flyers, posters and film. His book The ROXY: Our Story documents the extraordinary story of the club that helped shape punk.
