Twiggy
Twiggy was the worlds first supermodel, appearing on the cover of just about every major fashion magazine in the world. She later became a successful actress on stage and in film and television, with her own TV series in the UK & US.
Twiggy won two Golden Globe Awards for her first film The Boyfriend, directed by Ken Russell, and she was nominated for a Tony Award for her role in the hit Broadway Gershwin Musical My One and Only. She has appeared in several other theatre productions in the UK and the US, and has recorded several albums. She has designed fashion ranges in the UK, the US and Japan. She featured as a guest judge for several seasons on the phenomenally successful America’s Next Top Model.
In 2019 she received a Damehood in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List, for her contributions to fashion, the arts and charity. In 2020, she launched a podcast, Tea with Twiggy, where she chats to friends and people she admires. Due to its ongoing success she began a third series in 2022.
At Chelsea Arts Festival she will be joining Anna Smith’s panel, A Celebration of British Film & Television, to discuss Twiggy, the documentary on her life directed by Sadie Frost. The film features contributions from Dustin Hoffman, Paul McCartney, Charlotte Tilbury, Joanna Lumley and many more. It is an exploration of the model’s upbringing, career, relationships and everything else that has made her the woman she is today.
